Today is a celebratory day in Canada, as we celebrate Canada Day 🇨🇦 🍁. In Quebec,  it is also a moving day, the day in the year where most leases in Quebec start and end.

Unfortunately,  due to the moving day, inflation, and the over 70% increase in rent cost within the past few years here in Montreal, today is the day many people in Montreal surrender their pets to local shelters. The local SPCA is experiencing a five year high and is struggling with the amount of animals surrendered – and moving day isn’t over yet. 

With the launch of our pet zine and being a huge animal lover myself, I don’t feel like I can just sit by and watch the animals suffer without doing something. 

So! I am launching yet another fundraiser! This will have 2 parts.

The first part is where I, personally, will be donating a limited amount of custom pet portraits! There will be cartoon options, whimsical options, basic and customized options. These will be available for digital download as well as physical/original copy. 

If you are a pet lover, this is your chance to get a watercolor painting of your beloved furry one – for a good cause! In order to enter to receive a pet portrait, you must donate a minimum amount (amount will vary per type of portrait) to the Montreal shelter directly. Upon showing via email the receipt to Magique, I will slot you in for a pet portrait of your choice. If you would like to receive a physical copy of your pet portrait and you do not live in Canada, I humbly ask for a small donation to help cover the cost of shipping via my kofi, but it isn’t obligatory. 

Minimum donation amounts for the pet portraits will be as follows: 

2×3″ cartoon portrait, set of 5 (each will portray a different emotion/picture of your choice), on watercolor paper: 10$ 

4×6″ cartoon portrait, set of 1: 25$ 

4×6″ non cartoon portrait, set of 1, on linen cardstock: 60$

Canvas 9×12″: 100$ 

Canvas 10×12″: 100$

Canvas 18×24″: 200$

Wood slice 6×7″:100$

The second part of the fundraiser involves other artists and creators, who will offer digital items in a raffle. Once more, donations are done directly to the Montreal shelter, with the minimum being 10$ Canadian. Once proof of payment is shown to Magique,  the donor will be entered into the raffle. 

So, if you are an artist/creator and wish to participate, send me an email and let’s see what can be done! If you are a pet owner/lover and you want a portrait done, let me know via email! 

As a final note, please, if you want to donate but don’t have quite enough funds for the minimum of the painting you’d like done, message me and I’ll see what can be done. 😊
